NakihunterGood point retriever - about an egg in the throat. That could explain the funny shape of the head looking like an arrow shape which is more typical of the pit vipers. Yes, I think it is the non-venomous Indian rat snake - called Charai in the South and Dhaman in the North - up to 6 feet long. The only other green snakes are the poisonous green pit viper & the vine snake - both of which are much smaller - less than 3 feet long & as thick as a man's finger. This was taken in Kabini Park in the south.

larryshoresBacking up to the question of what kind of snake, I seem to recall a documentary on a snake eating eggs that was green in color. I may be wrong but I think it was referred to as an egg eater.

I think most snakes eat - or swallow - eggs.
