Sharps54: Want to give that Pedroseli a new home ? I don't need it, but I would love to have one... See, early on, I bought about 5 grand worth of guns, and ended up selling most of them, and reloading for a few. I got it down to 22lr, 22 short, 9mm, for the mac 11, 45 acp, and 451 Detonics, now 45 Super, 45 colt/linebaugh/casull level loads, 223 in two Ar's, 308 in two M1A, M1A2,30-06, and 375 H&H, plus a Remmington autoload shotgun we used for testing BRI 45 caliber, 500 grain sabots with a scope on it, always fun at the range. Now, calibers I liked but don't have are 44 special, and 44 magnum, gave them up when I went to 45 colt/casull, and shot the 44 special to pieces with mid 44 magnum loads. 50 BMG, and 105mm kind of departed, since for some reason those aren't legal, and I don't own an M-60 Abrahms(I need to be richer: Saeed, can I borrow a couple hundred grand, and, I'll ship it to you ? Rifle calibers I would like are 450 Nitro Express, and 416 Rigby, or, if I get crazy, convert H&H to Rum, and 458 Lott. 35 Whelan would be good, or 375 Whelan. Plus, Saeed's 404/375 looks ok, but the RUM is the same, and cheaper. Now, keep in mind my philosophy is to shoot the hell out of the ones I have, and get really good with em. That's why I got it down to so few calibers... Darn, I forgot, I would love a 475 Linebaugh FA, or a 500 JRH, FA. s

Socrates, I just got the Sharps so I'm not ready to part with it yet! Actually I will probably just shoot what I have for a while. I just picked the Ultramag up so I need to work up loads for it and I am still playing with the .376 Steyr. I do have a .450 No.2 reamer enroute but I may hold off on rechambering the Pedersoli double for now. My local gunsmith wants the reamer anyhow so I won't be out any money. If I do get to Africa in the next 5 years or so it will probably be a plains game safari and I won't bring my .416 for that, probably either my 22F in 7x57 or the 8x60S and do it in style. I much prefer a client to have only one rifle for a hunt in dangerous game country:- his DG rifle. The other either has to be left with the truck or carried by a tracker or someone else. The client seldom has his light rifle when he needs it! If you are hunting dangerous game in one area and then plains game on a ranch where there is no dangerous game then two rifles makes sence. Also if you have no intention of walking! But, if you hunt on foot in any area where elephant, black rhino or buffalo are present, then start your rifle at 9,3 and moove up. A QD scope system is a great boon to clients. One scope zeroed for lighter bullets suitable for plains game and the other zeroed to match your ammo suitable for Dangerous game. I like 235grn bullets for a .375 for plains game, or perhaps the 270 grn. Both shoot flat, and the 235grn have refreshingly little recoil (at factory velocities) In .416 cal. 300grn X bullets for the thin skined stuff are great. Also, I generally recomend a .375 with solids for the tiny antelope. A .308 with softs does too much damage to the trophy and few hunters can bring a three gun baterry to africa (4 with a shotgun for the birds!).

It is too bad we never got to hunt together, I could have taught you all this a long time ago, and so much more! It is interesting to notice how some folks opinions change with each succeeding trip to Africa.
