Cecil moment versus Cecil movement

Wonder how much of the $1 mil went into active conservation. This arm chair judges/researchers have no idea what is actually happening in Africa.

Hunters provide presence in far off tourist unfriendly areas and act as a barrier against poaching. More Lions are killed by poachers and rural farmers than by hunters. I have recently read an article where the farmer family killed over 800 Lions over about 3 generations, all with pest control permits, and the population is still very healthy.

Granted that the Lion populations in certain areas are under pressure but overall there is a healthy Lion population in most of Africa. If there is enough food the population will grow, if the food source gets smaller the Lion population will get smaller. Conserve the habitat and there will not be a problem.

Life is how you spend the time between hunting trips.
