Looking for information from AR members about hunting with this Namibian PH Jan du Plessis.
The good, the bad and the ugly if you have done so please.
Better tomorrows!

You can borrow money but you can not borrow time. Go hunting with your family.

THE BAD: Jan is 140 lbs. of muscle and sinew and will walk you to death if you try to keep up with him.

THE GOOD: He is as good a PH as you'll find anywhere. His property is typical Namibia (BEAUTIFUL). He has a great selection of trophy animals.

THE UGLY: You will eventually have to go back home again.

BOTTOM LINE: You'll have a GREAT experience with Jan and his family. Don't hesitate to book with him.

My girlfriend and I were there for 14 days this past May. There are not enough positive words in the dictionary to describe him, his wife and his family. He is fourth generation on the land and between he and his father’s place is something like 100K US acres.
The meals were great the guest house just right – it was rustic but VERY comfortable.

If this is any indication – he had an opening again for right now, and we would be there right now if my g/f could have taken the time away from her business, but we are booked to go back again in Aug 09. If you email him tell him Michael and Anila say hello!! Let me know if you book with them – I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I agree with the above posts. My wife and I had a fantastic hunt with him in 2005. I would highly recommend them. A very scenic area, very big kudu and gemsbok and great people. I look forward to hunting there again some day.

I hope to post a detailed hunt report soon. My friend and I and our two teenage sons spent 11 days hunting with Jan in late July and early August this year. Jan employed a second PH to help with the guiding since we wanted to do one on one with our sons as observers. We had a great experience. We wanted a free range hunt where we would get some exercise, see lots of game and interesting country. We got it all.
