Just wondering what the official weight is. I am not sure about Tanzania, but in some countries an official weight of the tusks is taken on a certified scale for game department records.

The exact weight won't be known till they come out of the bush. Where they get weighed at the game check station at the border of the Selous..

My tusks in the Matetsi were weighed on the oldest scales I have ever seen. I have grave doubts about their being 'certified' but theirs was the weight stamped on the tusks. They were definitely the official scales. They very carefully measured and aged every game animal shot in the area. Very detailed and well documented records of everything harvested for years. I was really impressed with the attention to detail.
