Hello my friends, I am finally back in the country after my last deployment with the United States Navy.

I have spent the spring and early summer in the Med and the Black Sea. We visited Spain, Crete, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, the Republic of Georgia, and Malta. In addition to being deployed for most of the summer, I was selected for advancement to the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

Because of the tax-free status I found myself in, I have saved enough for another safari. I'm booked for April in 2007 for leopard and sable in the Matetsi with John Sharp. A navy buddy of mine will be after lion and buff at the same time. Really looking forward to that safari.

I am anticipating with pleasure being able to participate in these discussions again and hope the summer has been kind to all of you. It's definately good to be home.

Cheers

Mac

MAC,

Welcome back, we missed you. What Unit are you hunting in Matetsi? Good luck on one of those big Matestsi sable.

Oh, congratulations on your promotion.

Regards,

Terry

Welcome back, Chief. You picked a good one with John Sharp. I've hunted with him twice and have a leopard hunt tentatively booked for 08 for leopard with him. Looking forward to your posts here in the months to come. jorge

Welcome home CPO Mac.

That was a short deployment...gone in May, back already in August. Things must be different now than in the late 60's when I served on board aircraft carriers. We were gone minimum 6 months.

Dave: It's still the same. Carrier deployments are still 6 months....and they are still a pain in the ass. jorge
