Facebook bans hate speech

AnotherAZWriterFacebook bans hate speech
Last week FB announced it would ban users who use hate speech, promote hate speech, or applaud those who do.
Next time someone uses it on hunters we should remind them of their own policy and ban the haters.

Todd WilliamsThe problem with that policy is who gets to define hate speech.
Typically, the truth sounds like hate speech to the left and the left uses actual hate speech against those who don't agree with them in order to appear compassionate.

Very simple really.
Anything we consider normal, is unacceptable and branded by one or more of the stupid ISMs.
Anything we have always believed to be stupid, freak, and unacceptable, is normal now.
I have had enough of trying to be nice to these ignorant idiots.
I tell them exactly what I think of them, and could not careless what they think.
They have two rules.
One applies to them, as they think they are always right, and can tell us what to do and not do.
And that we are all wrong, and should accept their demands.
We are not supposed to answer back.
I found they take being told to "piss off" very effective.
It opens their mouths so wide their jaws drop to their toes!

376 steyrYes, who gets to define "hate speech"? Look out for the modern day "brown shirts" aka "antifa" who by definition are facist. It shouldn't be long before we see them burning books.

Michael RobinsonIt's their site; they can ban whatever and whoever they want.
And you can be sure they will continue doing just that, as long as billions of sheep keep joining and staying, despite the site's many membership abuses.

MARK H. YOUNGHmmmmmm! So when an anti hunter calls you a murderer and says you should be strung up by your testicles until dead is that hate speech against hunters? Sounds that way to me. And does it make a difference if the person being called a murderer is not Caucasian?

376 steyrIt is their own website but aren't they publicly traded on the stock exchange? If so, there is a federal jurisdiction isn't there? I finally agree with sen. Warren; these big social media sights need to be broken up by the anti thrust laws. Way too much power in their hands.

I'm not for the government breaking up any company that was built through successful legal efforts.
What I would like to see regarding social media and the "social justice" warriors, is some type of accountability wherein if the mob mentality decides to ruin someone who's activities they disagree with but are perfectly legal, financial recourse against the instigators comes swiftly. Tall order with the global reach of social media sites but at some point, someone with enough financial backing and iron will is going to have to set the precedent of inflicting financial penalty for unwarranted slander.

AR is social media.
Very true.
But, there is that difference that AR never uses you as a money cow.

I agree; FB doesn't need to be broken up because you don't need FB to live a happy and productive life.

crbutlerFB’s problem will occur when they ban folks for “hate speech” and someone decides to fight it, and it turns out that it truly isn’t hateful.
That will be the problem for them... they are publicly stating we will ban you for hate speech, so if you get banned, they have slandered you (again assuming you were not actually engaged in hate speech...).
Zuckerberg has too much money to not be putting a big target on his rump by doing so frivolously. We are a suit happy country. The wrong judge and jury and he won’t have a pot to pee in.
