Buffalo injures two Victoria Falls Reporter November 4, 2010 IN an incident that has left the community of Sipepa under Chief Mathuphula in Tsholotsho dumbfounded, a buffalo injured two villagers who were trying to drive it out of a cattle pen. The buffalo had strayed and stayed in the pen where there was also a head of cattle belonging to Mr Mehluli Ncube. Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson Inspector Trust Ndlovu said a villager, Mr Gideon Ncube, saw the female buffalo in Mr Ncube’s cattle pen together with his cattle. “Mr Ncube then alerted Mr Fani Mpofu and Mr Moikeli Mlilo who proceeded to the pen with the intention of chasing the buffalo away. “However, the buffalo charged at Mr Mpofu and gored him on the left side of his chest, but he did not sustain visible injuries,” he said. Insp Ndlovu said the buffalo then charged at Mr Mlilo, tossing him into the air and he sustained a deep cut on the head and chest. “The buffalo then returned into the pen and stayed with the cattle,” said the police spokesperson. He said the villagers then teamed up and killed the buffalo. A report was made to the police. Meanwhile, Mr Mpofu and Mr Mlilo are admitted to Tsholotsho District Hospital where their condition is said to be stable.
