It is my sad duty to report the death of David Hulme. I received brief word of his passing which stated he died during the night of a heart attack.

Although we never met in person, David and I were quite close friends because of The Borderline Walk project. Through thousands of emails and dozens of satellite phone calls, I was with him through all the challenges he faced and the triumphs he enjoyed.

Now, he has passed to the other side and I look at the last beautiful photo he posted on Facebook of Mutare after sundown. It is so typical of his desire to share the beauty of Zimbabwe with the world through his photography and his writings.

The Borderline Walk Facebook page

Please join me with your prayers for his friends and family during this difficult time. David was a talented and visionary individual, and this world is a good deal poorer in his absence.

Cheers,

~ Alan

Home Is the Sailor

Home is the sailor, home from sea:
Her far-borne canvas furled
The ship pours shining on the quay
The plunder of the world.

Home is the hunter from the hill:
Fast in the boundless snare
All flesh lies taken at his will
And every fowl of air.

'Tis evening on the moorland free,
The starlit wave is still:
Home is the sailor from the sea,
The hunter from the hill.

A.E. Housman

Extremely sad new and David did more for wildlife especially the Black Rhino than any man I know.

What a crying shame.
