Our local news carried a story tonight of a missionary couple who had the door of their hotel(Some where in Tanzania) knocked down and were attacked by robbers. The man was hacked with a machette and his wife was shot in the chest just missing her heart. The couple drove there own car two hours to a medical clinic and were later flown to a Nairobi, Kenya Hospital. Sounds like our wild wild Midwest. Too bad the couple were not hunters with a couple of loaded weapons to fight back.

I was confused there for a minute. Thought the report was another 10:00 p.m. news story from Washington, D.C.

That news report was actually over the weekend, and it was the 11 PM news Wink

That's interesting that it made the news here. I agree similiar instances occur everywhere daily but the machete probably made it a story. Personally I feel safer in Africa than in any urban area in the US or Europe.

If I may add to your insecurity just a little; six Americans or their relatives connected to the "official" American community (Embassy, USAID, etc.) have been killed in Kenya in the last 18 months. Mostly in carjackings. Out of a relatively small population it doesn't make for good statistics.

I was in Nairobi on 2 February when one of the funerals was taking place. A very tragic story. A US government employee's father and mother-in-law came to visit their daughter, his wife. Outside of town on a sight seeing trip they are stopped, both women are shot and killed during the carjacking. So, the father lost his wife and his daughter in one fell swoop.

Yes, you're right. It's not the politically correct thing to do today. In fact, the politically correct thing to do today is to rape, pillage, plunder, murder, steal, and confiscate, all in the name of a black run government, so just you and your black cronies can benefit, while letting your own people (the real masses of humanity) suffer and die. In addition, never mind the devil whites that kept you all alive and made the economy one of the best on the African continent. It's all about racism, hatred, jealousy, incompetence, stupidity and pure evil with Uncle Bob and his brethren. By the way, how did his recent birthday party celebration turn out, for which he spent $1.2 million USD? There's an old saying that still understates the situation in Zimbabwe: "When the wicked rule, the people mourn." As an aside, I saw a recent television program that showed Nelson Mandela. He's not looking too good. Wonder what the reaction is going to be towards the whites and what's going to happen in South Africa when he dies?

My life's experience has only taught me to be a pessimist. There is no hope when the balance of power is so lopsided as it is today in those lands. When thinking in terms of a historical clock, the changes which have come to the African continent are quite fresh and new. As such, the effects will be around for a long time.

Thus my saddened heart. Frowner
