Was not sure where to post this, but figured this might have relevance here. Does anyone have knowledge of the more expensive electronic hearing protectors such as the TCI DEHP or the MSA Sordin Supreme Pro X? I am interested particularly in those two because they come in a behind the neck version which would allow use of a wide brimmed hat and from reviews on the Internet, they are more comfortable than many other brands, particularly with the optional Gel ear cups. I have been using Peltor and others for years but find they become uncomfortable after prolonged use on the range. For hunting, I have inside the ear units which work pretty well but do not seem to block sound as well as the muffs for prolonged shooting, working up loads etc. Do the above brands (or others) work as advertised and are they worth the #350-$450 price tag? I have already lost too much hearing and am willing to spend the money to protect what is remaining if the consensus is that they are worthwhile. Thanks,

I use the Sordin Pro X with Gel ear cups and they are comfortable for extended use. For me they are worth their price tag. I use them both on the range and on drive hunts. On the range I put in squish foam ear plugs first, then the Sordin over them and turn up the volume, works well. -------- There are those who only reload so they can shoot, and then there are those who only shoot so they can reload. I belong to the first group. Dom ---------

Take a look at Tactacal Solutions hearing protection. I got a set early this spring and have been quite impressed with them. They are custom molded to your ear and are all day comfortable. Defiantly worth the money! All We Know Is All We Are

I use the Sordin MSA with plugs. By themselves I find I need more protection but they are comfortable and with he neck strap they don't slide around. I have the gel inserts. I did look for the blue tooth version but decided against them.

Our family use bilsom, impact sport noise canceling muffs. If there is no wind you can hear better with them turned on. Here all directions clear from the PH. I also carry ear plugs incase there is noise. Never shoot with out protection on. Especially when the kids shoot with Muzzel brakes fitted. Cost around $150 aussie.
