Planning on going for the first time. What Hotel would be the closest? Any good Deals?

I think you'll find the Atlantis and Peppermill that are close by the convention center will be filled but other perfectly fine hotels in town will have rooms and cheaper rooms. The hotels all have busses going to the convention center on a continuos basis so it's not so important to be near the convention center. Personally I have stayed at Circus Circus a couple of times and it is fine. It is also connected to the Silver Legacy and the El Dorado giving you access to several restaurants and entertainment without going outside at all.
