Is sitatunga available for hunting in Namibia? I've heard that they can be found there but was not sure if they are a huntable species there. In reading through some of the Namibian outfitters websites, I have not seen them mentioned. If they are, what part(s) of the country are they found? Are sitatunga indigenous to Namibia? What would the trophy fee run, generally speaking? Would there be any other stipulations attached to hunting them there - i.e. minimum # of days, CITES, etc? In other words, assuming they are available, would they be an "add-on" species or would you have to specifically request one? Thanks in advance for any information.

pinotguy I believe in the north of Namibia there are sitatunga in the swampy areas. I also think there is no quota avaialbe. I could be wrong but I personally don't know of anyone offering sitatunga in Namibia. Zambia really offer the only viable hunt for the most common sitatunga the Zambesi variety. Our operator there has 100% success on them but it is not your usual plains game hunt or is it priced as such. The east Africa variety of sitatunga are on quota in western Tanzania and forest sitatunga are avaialbe in West Africa but the hunts are very expensive. Hope this is helpful! Mark MARK H. There are Sitatunga in the Eastern Caprivi. None on a hunting quota though. Maybe some day? Don't hold your breath. As Mark said, Zambia is a good option for Sitatunga.
