http://allafrica.com/stories/201204020729.html Tanzania: Marauding Hyena Attack Blamed On Witchcraft By Happy Lazaro, 31 March 2012 A marauding hyena attacked three people at Gisambalang ward, Hanang district, Manyara region wounding them seriously. They were sleeping on a donkey cart (mkokoteni) outside their house after coming back from a prayer meeting. They were taken to hospital and one of them is in a serious condition. Speaking to reporters, Gisambalang Pentecost Church Pastor, Philipo Qaymo said that the incident happened on March 24 this year. The three victims were asleep when the beast set on them. One was seriously wounded. He named the victims as Isaya Mathayo (27), John Elias (27) and James Lucas (32) all residents of Gisambalang. They are admitted at Haydom Lutheran Church Hospital. The victims were bitten on different body parts. John Elias had his two hands broken by the hyena. Haydom hospital Chief Nurse Emmanuel Michael said the victims are receiving treatment. He confirmed about Elias broken hands. However Jonathan Darema, a resident of Gisambalang blamed the incident on witchcraft. He said cases of people being sent hyenas to attack them were prevalent within the Iraqw and Barbaig communities. "Even with modern science and technology acts of witchcraft still pervades within these communities. Religious leaders should curse these activities," said Darema. I see where they were "bitten on different body parts." Might it have had something to do with what they may have doing after coming back from the prayer meeting? Those Hyena should be exorcised! | |||
