It saddens me to inform you that Arthur Rudman and his wife were shot in a robbery on Saturday night by five armed men on their farm in Kirkwood. His condition is stable. I believe his wife was not hurt. I wish had the know how to post the newspaper article but I one day I will learn how to. This is happening all too often in South Africa and I suppose that is why I hate these savages!! (sorry)

In the grand scheme of things, I wonder if that is why it is happening.....(sorry)

I'm sorry to hear about this murder. I fear that this will just further the hate and violence.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

No murder. Mr. Rudman is stable and his wife was not hurt. Very sad to hear about this trouble. Hope he will recover. I agree with Jason in that hatred begets further violence.

Hey, you're pretty sharp for an "anomus internet poster".

And thanks for the clarification. I missed the part about his condition being stable. Thank God for that.

I am very disheartened by all the violence in Southern Africa. In 2002 I had the pleasure of sharing dinner with an 90 year old White Namibian(my PH's mother). It was just the two of us as my PH was attending a high-school class reunion. Although she did not understand my English, and I did not understand her German we got along splendidly.

I found out that she was brutally beaten less than a year later. It seems that an SOB hid outside her door and jumped her when she stepped out to tend her garden.

I just wish we could get people to realize that we are all human, regardless of skin color.

Thanks, lal.

Violence happens everywhere, even in the sticks of Uitenhage. Trinette carried on with a shop for the locals and this is what they get for the service. Prayers sent...

This is gutting news! Arthur and his wife are lovely people, whom I had the pleasure / honor of meeting a couple of years back while hunting at their place

My most sincere wishes go out to them, and their family, for a swift recovery.

Whatever one thinks of the climate in South Africa that encourages this kind of violence, the adherents of Mr. Julius Malema and "Shoot the Boer" are NOT part of the solution.
What a tragedy.

Best wishes for a full recovery. I have met him before, seemed like a very nice guy. Always hear nice reports about his outfit.

This news is quite sad & concerning. I had thought RSA to be very safe after you got out of the large cities. Arthur is the second RSA PH to be shot this year in a robbery that I know of. Devlin Barber was shot and killed earlier.

best wishes for a full recovery and glad that Trinette was not hurt. We spent 10 days with them a few years ago and they were gracious hosts.

Very sad to hear. Makes me a little scared to return to RSA; especially since I hunted with Devlin Barber in 2008.

I met Arthur some 20 years ago as they began to open Blaawkranz to hunting. The Eastern Cape was just beginning to become a hunting center. His property is prime habitat for Eastern Cape Kudu.

Arthur worked very hard during the sanction years to keep his operation going. They were tough years. The Safari industry became a blessing to augment ranching once the politics changed.

I would hope that Arthur was comfortably enjoying the fruits of his labor at this point. This home invasion/black on white violence is disturbing not only when one reads about and acquaintance is attacked, but when one also knows that the government will never do anything serious to put an end to it. Tragic.

Here's prayers for a speedy recovery

Thank you all for your messages and concern over Arthur, my dad & mom, Trinette's wellbeing. They are both recovering and coping well, surgeons have decided to leave the bullet as it is in quite a 'safe place', as it could be more dangerous to try and remove it, infection & muscle damage. Trinette was amazingly strong and was the heroine at the end of the day and even prayed for them during the incident.

After no incidents at Blaauwkrantz in their 41 years of married life, Arthur & Trinette are committed to make something positive for the greater community out of this. Detectives are still working round the clock, using dna and cellphone records to bring the robbers to book.

Thank you for all your prayers and you are welcome to send them an email at info@blaauwkrantz.com

Zani says he's busy in the farm operation (boerdry) and loving it. Four of the five culprits are in the pokey and the ringleader soon to be caught. Good to know.
