G L KrauseElephant Ivory and Sharpies? Uhhhh!
I just got my tusks back today from a hunt in Zimbabwe and naturally I am happy they are in my hands after all that is going on. Unfortunately, some knucklehead in Zimbabwe decided to write on the ivory itself in black and red permanent marker! You've got to wonder what goes through their minds.
Anyway, my taxidermist was actually at a loss as to the best way to remove this. He recommended a solvent (but that may whiten the ivory), or even light sanding. Naturally I'm reluctant to do either if there is an alternative. Anyone have this same experience and have a suggestion for me? Thanks.
Go onto Taxidermy net and ask there mate. Lots of very good taxidermists hang out there and I'd be surprised is they haven't seen this before.
Try 91 percent Iso Alcohol Wally World carries it.
Same with mine received a month back ;(

NakihunterThe old trick at the office works.
If someone has used a Permanent marker by mistake on a white board, just use a whiteboard marker and write on top of it. Then wipe it off!
I hope it does not "clean" the ivory.

Carl Frederik NagellSame with my ivory. I used alcohol and rubbed it off. It came off 100% No stains

G L KrauseThanks for all the advice. I'll start with the alcohol and try that first.
