plan2....buy searcy 500 nitro delux for 12,500 and ryan breeding rifle possible caliber....500 a square...577 tyrann
toatle price 22-24,000
plan 3 buy a searcy 500 and a winchester left handed 375 h&h rebarrel and work it to 470 capstick price all together about 14,000-14,500
more plans coming........it tough desiding

BrentI'd buy a double, probably not a Searcy, but that's fine, make it a Searcy 450 NE or whatever and having $30k+ left over, I'd go hunting.
(Actually, I'd buy a old Rhodda or Rigby or similar underlever double hammer rifle in .450 or 500 bpe and spend the rest of Africa or buy an original Sharps and hunt the rest in the West. Option #2 is probably my favorite).

Gringo CazadorFirst thing I would do is get good and South Texas Cowboy drunk, piss my wife off and grab my 375 and go hunt and hope I had a job and a wife when I got back

I think you should spend $20K on a getting married with a lavish wedding, then get divorced and spend the other $20K on attorneys fees.

mambaId buy a pre 64 .375 and spend the rest hunting elephants and buffalo in the Zambezi valley.
17 November 2004, 18:01
Prewar70Definitely buy less equipment, and use the equipment you do have to hunt more.

You read my mind.

Boghossianditto
Buy a customized CZ 416 + decent scope for under 2K and spend the rest on elephants.
18 November 2004, 00:50
ErikDBuy less and hunt more.

Don_GExactly: use it to go hunting!
Even if you have to use a "cheap" 375 bolt!

AndersHunting rather than guns and equipment for me..
21-28 days in Tanzania "all" included.. Big Four, lesser kudu, sitatunga, gerenuk, fringe-eared oryx, kirks dikdik, grants and thompson gazelle, lichtenstein hartebeest etc etc.. Well... 40K might not cover this operation! But it sounds great!

18 November 2004, 02:00
RHSSearcy 470NE and book the next possible 28-day affair in Tanz whacking buff and eland. (I'm not much for killing jumbo)

AMEN to that.

Aspen Hill AdventuresAnother vote for less equipment and more hunting here!

And if you really have to get married, be practical, go see a judge and then spend your life savings hunting.

700 nitroi think i have settled on buying a searcy delux 500 nitro 12,500. and use my 416 rigby as a back up it has a nice little lepould compact 1.5-5 on it.
and use the rest to shoot elephant, buffalo and hippo. hippo would be on dry land of course.
18 November 2004, 04:07
JefferyDenmarkDon't you already own a .500 NE from Searcy

I would get the .500 and spend the rest of trhe money on Buff.
Cheers,
Andr

KenscoThis morning I would buy Sun Microsystems (SUNW).
18 November 2004, 04:24
<allen day>I'd hire D'Arcy Echols to build a best-quality bolt gun, then invest the rest of the money in a safari........

AnotherAZWriterI guess it would depend on your net worth. If was less than a million, then I would invest the 40k, at least most of it. I know, I am a stick in the mud...
18 November 2004, 07:17
BusterI'd use some of it to take a kid from Utah on his first, and probably only, African Safari....

BusterEricD, the only safari I've been on consisted of prairie dogs and coyotes in Wyoming. Now that I think of it, the furthest east I've ever been is Denver, Co. Man, I live a sheltered life.
500grains, I'm guessing $40,000.00 would be enough for both of us.....

18 November 2004, 08:34
LV Eric$40,000 extra thats easy more elephants.
18 November 2004, 08:37
ibexebiI would pass on the getting married part (done that enough times it has started to lose its sparkle),use the shooter I already own & hunt till i was broke.... again.

Frans DiepstratenI'd put a scope on my .416 Rigby and head for Africa...forget about the arsenal.

700 nitrojeffery i had a 500 nitro but sold it to the ph that i hunted with wanted that rifle with a passion so i thought i would help him out.
so i am planning on buying another.
18 November 2004, 18:51
500grains700nitro,
Was your PH a leftie, or did he plan on restocking the rifle with a right handed stock?
18 November 2004, 19:31
Michael RobinsonWhy are you selling?
Why are you buying again?
Just wondering. No malicious intent.
I have a buyer been--but not a seller--for thirty years.
And I regret those I sold before then, too.
Just wondering.
19 November 2004, 03:59
700 nitro500 grains the ph was a righty but planned to restock the rifle his son is left handed i belive that is why he also bought it.
mrlexma i am selling the 700 nitro becuase i dont wish to have so much money tied up in one single item.
i loved that 500 nitro that is why i want another one and will buy one and soon as some funds come available.
19 November 2004, 04:38
AtkinsonI'd put some money with it and buy me another team roping horse...

19 November 2004, 05:49
dogcatI am up for adoption as I was born a poor black child. I could use the $40K to better myself and half of Zim with me.(after I hunted until I ran out of money).
19 November 2004, 07:40
Dago RedI'd pay off some credit cards we have, then get my 458 finished and take my stepfather with me on a full out buff hunt. Of course I would send my wife and mom somewhere far away and nice at the same time so there were no hard feelings.

I didn't know that the GMA came in linx. If the quality and price is about the same as the German ones, I see your point in using the GMA over a foreign product.
