I will have about two and a half days to kill there, and was wondering if there were any good African hunting type things to see there? Gun shops, museums displays, ect. Any recommendations? I am not an art and architecture kind of guy.

The Crazy Horse is always interesting.

Never worry about theory as long as the machinery does what it's supposed to do.

Willie,
Paris has a branch of Holland & Holland, just check the H&H website. Also, as I recall, the hunting organization CIC (Confederation Internationale de la Chasse??) has its Hq. in Paris and might have a mini-museum. Lots of gun shops in Paris and a google on Paris and gunshops might get you some hits but likely in French. Also, as I recall, there's at least one antiquarian bookshop with hunting books in all languages in Paris. Might find something at Fabrice Bayarre, 21 rue de Tournon off Blvd. St. Michel. Paris also has a hunting museum, Musee de la Chasse at 60 rue des Archives, but it's not clear from the site I looked at whether it's open.
Regards, Tim

The Crazy Horse is a landmark. The Louvre and the Tomb of Napolean are worth seeing.

The Louvre, in addition to being a collection of wonderful stuff, ranks right along with the British Museum as proof that the USA is a piker in comparison to the imperialists of old. Just amazing what they managed to move out of other countries Big Grin

Napolean's Tomb yields a little insight into the French psyche ... they don't talk about it much, but they really liked being the "super power" of the old days. Amazing place.

Eat at outdoor restuarants. Enjoy the wine. Catch the freshly baked bread in the morning.

Have fun.

They got this here TV tower right thar on the river you can climb up on and everything. You can even get bad food up thar on the tower without even comin' down.

That Napolean's Tomb is interestin'. They got writ all the way round it what he done and everythin'. Only problem is it be writ in some foreign language, but it sure is pretty.

They also got this big church with the same name as that Catholic university in Indianna, Notre Dame. It is real pretty and has some nice windows in colored glass.

At sundown, there is this place called Monmartre, and everybody says that is the place to see the sun set. Don't let any of them sissy boys try to paint yo' piture. They ain't no good at it. Just have sumun take yo' photo with yo' Kodak.

Let me tell ya, tho, you'd better lock yo' wallet down, 'cause they got the doggontest pick pockets you ever seen.

You said you didn't like art, but that Louvre place is OK. You get this card at the subway station, what will let you get in the Louvre down thru the subway station. There all kinds of things in that Museum. Pitures, even that Mona Liza that Nat King Cole sung 'bout, and staturs of armless wimen right there on the steps goin' up and down. But they got a good cafeteria there in the mall 'for you get in the museum itself what's got good food. And cheap for Paris. That mall has all kinds of shops for souvenirs and their prices ain't bad either.

It'll hep if you can "parle vu" that French, but most of them folks at the museum and TV tower can speak English, 'pecially aftern they here my French. Kudude Cool

kudude, you can be the tour guide for my Arkansas relations when they go to Pairee. My Great Uncle has had a strong hankerin' to go back ever since the big time he had there about 60 years ago. He said the gettin' there was no fun, but the post-party made it all worthwhile.

The "Lido" floorshow had some good points about it.

But I didn't need to take a box of tissues unlike "pichon1" at the Paris H&H. Big Grin

There is a hunting museum (Musee de la Chasse, 60 rue des Archives, 3e, Paris, France, Tel: 01-53-01-92-40) that is worth a short visit of an hour or two.

The Musee de la Chasse apparently is a good one. After leaving Iran Prince Abdorreza became a major contributor of specimens I'm sure can be found in no other natural history museum in the world.

When I interviewed him for "Royal Quest," He said he had presented the museum with every subspecies of Asian sheep, ibex and markhor, as well as some huge African game, such as his 65-inch greater kudu.

I've also heard this museum has an outstanding collection of firearms and hunting art.
