I post this for those of you in the DSC hierarchy: I know there are shuttles from the various hotels to the convention, etc, but if I'm reading the schedule correctly, they stop after the convention closes?

If that is so, what is there available for us children of a lesser god that were left out of staying at the Omni? Taxis, Uber, etc?

And a PITA to have to wait for. But yeah, I checked and the buses only run from 1730-2330 after the convention closes, so if one is attending cocktail parties prior to the dinners, you are effed...

Uber is your friend. Screw Lyft, very anti-gun management. Free rides to anti gun rally’s. And Uber maybe too, but so far not publicly that I am aware of.

True but one has to wait on taxis and busses as well.

Interesting.

We were in Verbier, Switzerland, for the Christmas and New Year break.

They had free bus services through the town, from early morning tell late at night.

Service available for everyone.

I wonder why places like Vegas, which depend so much on visitors, do not do the same?

The casinos in Vegas now charge for parking Wink

Uber in Dallas is pretty good.

Or here's an idea, why not give MEMBERS who purchase goods and services that benefit the Club, have priority over the VENDORS who profit from said members instead of reserving the entire Omni for them and a selct few of course...

Truth be known there is not a lot going on by the convention center outside of the show, Might consider the Adolphus hotel.
More to do over toward uptown, Try the Cresant Court, Stonleigh, Melrose, Ritz Carlton, The Mansion, Hotel ZAZA. Many more eateries over there.
All sorts of steak houses, Mexican and seafood. Trulucks, Ocean Prime, Perry's, Old Warsaw, Nick and Sams, Perry's, Capital Grill, Dakotas, Del Friscos, Javiars, Steel, Ruth Chris, Eddie V's, Al Bernaits.
For a nice little lunch on McKinney go over to Hook line and sinker (Mckinney and Lovers Lane)
Great breakfast at the Common Table on Fairmount.
Favorites: Common Table for Breakfast/Brunch, Trulucks for Seafood, Javiars for Mexican dinner, Pork Chop for lunch on Friday at Perry's, Steel for Asian fusion / Sushi,
Steaks? Take your pick all good. Nick and Sams and Al Beraits are noisy.

Good luck! Uber

This is not DSC’s doing . The Omni sets the price.

Personally, I would rather stay away from the Omni. It is much quieter and cheaper.

Understood sir. The hotels are the culprits in that regard. We stay at the Omni because we commit to a LOT of functions and dragging a high maintenance female on a bus or even an Uber is a living hell Smiler

Got a call two weeks ago or so from DSC Housing that they had an cancellation at the Omni if I wanted it and, of course, snabbed it up. Got lucky for once.

I always stay at the Adolphus, but word's got around apparently and they were booked this year. Guess I'll book earlier next year. I don't like the Omni because restaurants are too limited and you still have to get an Uber to a restaurant and it's on the edge of town and not close to anyplace.
