I just received a news letter from the company I hunted with in 2004. There are offering a packaged deal that is absolutely great for the first time and/or money concious hunter. The ad on their website says that it is only good for "the duration of the show" but in the newsletter, with the exception of dropping the Wildebeest, is good anytime in the near future.

Take a look at this; http://www.mafigeni.com/cman/?Page=Hot%20Deal

The company, Mafigeni Safaris, is a small outfit in Duifelskloof, Limpopo Province, RSA. Claude and Jill Kleinhans are the owners and are great people to deal with. The accomodations are not luxurious by any means but, comfortable and clean. Other species than those listed can be had for the addition of trophy fees. The food, if Jill's mother is still cooking, is great. If I wasn't paying on two houses right now, I'd be back there in a heartbeat. The prices are as stated and no surprises. Gratuities, trophy shipping, taxes on daily rate are not included but, only the actual shipping of the tropies is a large expense, depending on the amount and state of taxidermy (all done or just prepped hides and horns). I know the airfare charge does not include your flight from home to Dulles and probably not from Jo'burg to Phalaborwa.

I know that several of the forum members have hunted with Mafigeni and might be able to add to my recommendation.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but if you look at the web site and add up the costs from his standard trophy price list and cost per day for a 2 x 1 hunt this is not a special package deal. It is about the same cost as any hunt with the 4 animals specified.

$1750 trophy fees
$400 a day @7 days is 2800

Total $4050

Advertised special package price, $3900. Gonna give a $150 discount.

Bring the cost down another $600 to $800 and you would have a great deal. Many of us were born at night, but not last night. Wink

My calculator must be made from more expensive parts as this is what I get when I press the buttons

$1750
$2800
-----
$4550 - so that is $650 less than the $3900

OH they are just down the road from where we are based ....

BTW they do have a nice website as well

Cheers, Peter

I didn't notice "round trip airfare" from Dulles to Jo'burg in any of those packagesa. Am I missing something?

I wasn't of the opinion that airfare was a part of any safari and that one just has to know that....!
