OK, I can't stand it any more. This board has become a habit for this new user. Much great information posted here and the pictures of the hunting tophies makes me want to return to Africa more quickly than planned.

I also wanted to show a few of my pics. In August I hunted with Huntley Ferriera Safaris in the Limpopo River area right on the Botswana border. A great hunt with a top notch family run outfit. Even his daughter is a PH and my wife had a great time hunting with her, taking her first ever big game animals (an impala and blesbuck). On the flight home she asked me if I'd like to go back again next year. Tough problem to have, a wife that's hooked on African hunting. Think I'll keep her. Too bad her trophy pictures are not digital.

I took this 17"+ bushbuck after three days of stalking in the 40+deg C weather. He was about 85 yards away on an island in the river when we found him. I took him standing off hand with a quick shot before he too ran away. We also found a large elephant and several nice waterbuck in the river bottoms. This was the first animal from which I've recovered any of my 9.3x62 bullets. It was a Swift A-Frame 250 gr launched at a MV of 2450 fps that retained over 95% of its original weight. Every other Swift I've used on both trips to Africa for plains game has been a complete pass through one-shot kill.

This impala was over 27 1/2" at first measurement and is awaiting a final tape for scoring. Much larger than I ever expected to find.

This eland was over 38" and a quartering shoulder shot broke through the shoulder and passed out the opposite rear flank. Great bullet performance and a fine animal.

The warthog was a really old guy out by himself at dusk affording a chance to harvest a nice one.

We were looking for nice animals and ended up with some exceptional trophies and some great hunting memories.

Thanks for all the interesting topics and discussions.

Super trophies and photos. Outstanding! Which country were you hunting in, and if you wouldn't mind, would you please provide contact details for your outfitter.

That is a great bushbuck. Did you hunt along the Limpopo on foot?

Mike - I think this is the outfitter's website: Huntley Ferreira Safari's

PS: The "View Full Size" feature of the opticstalk.com site is quite nice...

Hey Chopper Guy.

Just wanted to let you know that you can easily embed the photos right into your post by copying and pasting the included UBB link provided at the bottom of your image into body of your post.

You can also move them into a gallery by selecting the "Edit Photo" link and creating a gallery for the first photo. Then go to each photo you want to place in there, select edit and select your gallery from the drop down menu, click the radial button and hit update. From there you can provide one link to your entire gallery if there is a whole bunch!

They need to be reapproved at this time but we are checking it constantly until the auto approve feature is done for members in good standing.

Looks like a great hunt! Congrats!

Sheldon

Thanks for the info on embedding photos. I'll try it next time.

The web contact for Huntley is listed abive in Bob F's reply. I can highly recommend Huntley and would be happy to answer any questions any one has regarding his hunts.

We hunted in RSA and the bushbuck hunt was on foot in the river bottoms (dry season) on the RSA side. Tereffic fun, but a lot of work.

Thanks all for the kind comments. We just now finalized a hunt for next June. Now it's time to count the days.

Regards,

Mike

Every one of those is a great trophy....really can't pick between them. Was the eland a herd bull?

The eland was the herd bull. The cows ran off and returned a few minutes later to look for him. There was another bull or two around the herd and they looked to be already trying to take the place of the bull I took.

Nature surely is grand.
