I was just looking through the Namibian Professional Hunters Association's website and found the lists of the Top Ten Trophies for Namibia.

I was not surprised to discover that Dirk de Bod has probably taken more Top Ten trophies than any other PH in Namibia. Here is a list of his Top Ten trophies:

Black Wildebeest - #1, #2
Caracal - #4
Cheetah - #4, #9
Damara Dik-dik - #2, #7, #9
Eland - #3
Red Hartebeest - #4
Impala - #4
Klipspringer - #5
Kudu - #3, #6, #9
Gemsbok - #3, #5, #7, #8, #10
Roan - #5
Sable - #7
Springbok - #6
Steenbok - #6, #9
Warthog - #7
Waterbuck - #2, #4

Holly and I hunted with Dirk last April. We had a wonderful time and took some great trophies, among them were 3 Gold Medal Gemsbok, 2 Gold Medal Red Hartebeest, 1 Gold Medal Damara Dik-dik (#13 in the Namibian record book) and 1 Gold Medal Kudu. We also shot 1 Silver Medal Springbok, 1 Silver Medal Red Hartebeest and 1 Bronze Medal Springbok.

Go to our Photo Gallery if you would like to see the photos of our hunt.

Members of the Forum often ask who they should hunt with in Namibia. I would suggest that they consider booking with Dirk.

Visit his Safaris Namibia website for more information.

Mark, thanks for the info and link to Dirk's web site. I've heard he runs one of the best hunting operations in Namibia.

He is certainly one of the top PHs in Namibia. Probably due to the fact that he personally guides every safari and limits group size to a maximum of 6 people.

He does not want to expand the business by hiring additional PHs; he wants to be personally responsible for the satisfaction of every client.

The down side to this approach is that he can only take a limited number of clients per year. Presently he has only 1 opening left for 2005 and only 3 remaining for 2006. Half of his 2007 season is booked and he already has 3 bookings for 2008!

He goes to the SCI Convention in Reno each year and will attend the Dallas Safari Club show next year. But he stays so busy with repeat business and word-of-mouth referrals, that the shows are primarily a place for him to stay in touch with his other PH friends and see his past clients.
