Stopped by Gander Mountain today and picked up a box of Federal Premium 180 gr. Triple Shok's for my .300 WSM. I'm betting these are going to be well suited for our safari to Namibia next year. Now I've gotta see how they shoot in my gun and then it's off to the deer lease to test them on some piggies! Big Grin Anybody know of an affordable place to shoot a Nilgai?

Used that same caliber and bullet on Dall sheep last year and it was superb.

I have used the Barnes Triple Shock with my 7mm Rem, .300 Win Mag, and .375 H & H while in Namibia (On two different trips). The bullet performed excellent. I will be taking my .375 H & H with a 300 Grain Barnes Triple Shock to Tanzania in October for Buff. Just so happens to be the bullet of choice for the PH I will be hunting with as well.

ES - What do you consider an affordable hunt? Most run about $2200-2600 for a 2.5-3 day hunt including lodging. The cheapest I have seen is about $800 per day. They are all over on the Internet. My friend just took some of the King Ranch personnel fishing last week, and we may try to set up a hunt for this Fall when I come down. Love to see a bull walk away from my 375 with 260 grain AccuBonds! Smiler

I just got back from RSA, and took over 30 animals with TSX in 30 and 7mM calibers.

They are GREAT.

Terry,

How do you think the TSX would perform on leopard?

I am taking the TSX to Zim in 10 days in 30-06 for leopard. I'll let you know how it performs.

I'd use them, as they open up on a Springbok, they should do well on a Leopard, and not blow a hole in him to big to fix.

Blank,

Actually, I was thinking of something under $1,000. I found a place in Benavides (South Texas) that has a special on Nilgai cows right now. $450 includes a Nilgai cow and guide/lodging fees for 2 days and 2 nights (no meals). It sounds like a hell of a deal. I might do it.
