I just wanted to drop a quick post about the arrival of my recent trophy shipment. There have been a couple of posts filed recently about Customs/Fish an wildlife in the US seizing trophies and I wanted to comment from my discussion with an agent here in Baltimore while clearing my stuff. There has been a change in importing any goods that are manufactured for personal use.. Gun cases, belts etc and they are especially concerned with anything that is protected under CITES... But his does not mean you can not bring it in, it does however require you to apply for 2 cites permits the first one with a designation of H (for the actual trophy or skin) and a second with a P designation for personal use. The rule has been in effect for over a year but they are now inforcing it... Now the good news about Zim... With my trophy shipment even though I had no Cites animals in transit they completed Cites applications in Both the H and P designations and everything was properly documented and stamped... Big thumbs up... The coordinator was Huber logistics and they did a fine job! This thread prompts me to comment that getting trophies out of Zim does not have to be a goat rope. In '07 I hunted with Mokore Safaris and my trophies along with 2 of my client's trophies became wet at the end of the season and had to be eventually redone. This was an anomalie that had never happened to Mokore before. They let UTI handle the shipping and we still got our trophies in 14 months. I guess the point is if you work with an outfit in Zim that has made a plan there really is no need to be waiting 2 yers or more for your trophies. Mark MARK H.
