This is probably our record for the season, Let it be a warning there are snakes in Africa!

This Mamba measured just a little over 9 feet!

He killed it because he could not find his mother to kill before she laid the eggs that hatched him!

Damn nasty... I'd have killed it too!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Bill it was shot close to Avondschaduw.

Regarding Killing it, I'm all for live and let live but next time he might be the one doing the killing.

THAT is a big snake!

I'd never kill one - unless it chanced to cross my path, of course!

That may be the new # 1 in the SCI book...

... however, I hear tell there are quite a few snakes in "the book", albeit they are listed as the hunter !

GOOD SHOW!!
The biggest I ever saw was starting across a two track in Matetsi 6. When we saw it, Greeff speeded up to try to run it over----wrong! It reared, struck the bakkie cab even with John's head. The boys almost fell out of the bakkie diving to the left. John and I went back to look for and kill....looked at thick high grass then each other and went back to bakkie and left. Being only my second Safari, I asked John what would happen if one got bit by a Mamba out here in the middle of nowhere....John said "Well, Tom, were it a client, we would rush back to camp and have him sign his Travellers Cheques!"
