I know the African hunting season is about done, but if anyone is headed that way and is in proximity to Atlanta and would like to use my TuffPak, it's available for loan.

I doubt seriously I'll get back to Africa unless the lottery is good to me, and the case is just sitting in my storeroom, gathering dust.

I also have the cloth sack that goes with it.

It was bought in the mid-90's and has wheels and the vending-machine lock, with two sets of keys. It has been to Africa twice and Texas once and is still good as new, if somewhat battle-scarred.

I will loan it out at no charge with the understanding that if it were stolen, lost or damaged beyond repair it would be replaced.

I'm not worried about a few nicks, scratches or dings--just adds to the case's well-traveled ambiance.

PM me and I'll provide a cell phone number or other contact info.

That is a very nice gesture. My tuffpak regularly goes on trips without me and I agree, the more battle scars the more character!

If I can remember that long, I'll BTT (or re-write) this post early next spring when people are gearing up for 2014 safaris.

I also have a Win70 375 H&H and a Steyr .458 Win Mag I could loan out if somebody is going for DG but wants to forego the pleasure of buying a caliber-appropriate rifle.

You are a swell guy.
I have used mine for trips to Africa, Canada and across the USA. They are great cases for guns and I usually stuff a lot of clothes in mine.

Nitro:

We are lacking people like you in today's world. What a thoughtful gesture!

It's interesting that you would bring "tuffpack" up. As of yesterday, I did not know what it was. My friend raved about his.

I am surely going to purchase one after seeing them online!

Great offer Nitro, it is kind of funny because a friend of mine who hunts a lot but never flies went to Nebraska this week for a snow goose hunt. He was thrilled when I offered him my Pelican 1750 instead of him having to buy a case. I made him the same deal, enjoy if but if it gets lost you replace it. We are both happy!

Wouldn't a person need a 4457 in their name to be able to travel with these rifles?
Regardless, it is a VERY generous offer & you sir deserve all due respect.

Bwana,

I would think this could be solved with a simple contract. A purchase, so that the "purchaser" could obtain a 4457, with an "option" to purchase (re-purchase) within a set period of time, say six months to a year.

But you do raise a valid point.

As to the 4457 issue, all one needs to do is take the rifle(s) to a customs office and have the 4457 issued in the borrower's name. I've never had to show proof of ownership to get a 4457.
