Howdy folks.

I'm a newbie and trying to schedule first DG hunt to Zim. Fortunately I stumbled across this site and have read countless pages of great content and discussions from a knoledgable community... Only other question I had was whether anyone has any info on the state of the game in Dande North, the area I'm considering hunting. Has it been hit as hard with poaching as some of the other areas in Zim?
Looking to hunt cape buff, kudu and hyena. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
JB

frre2roam: I hunted bffalo there in June of 2005 and there were plenty of buffalo, PG and even saw quite a few elephant. Swainson's Safaris used to run the concession but I understand that Chifuti Safaris now has that gig. They are one of the more renowned operators in Zim, but hopefully our very own Ganyana or Don Heath will chime in with more up to date information. Good luck, jorge

The problem with Dande North or Chewore North for that matter is the Zambezi and the canoe... That said, the general remotness of the area allows for some excellent hunting in a relatively unspoiled environment.

I would not hesitate to head out to Dande North to hunt buffalo. You might also get a good kudu but kudu will be an opportunistic type hunt there. I am sure hyena can be had there as well.

free2roam, Dande North is pretty big and remote. It probably holds more buffalo than any other Zim concession. Check with Buzz Charlton of CMSafaris-he apprenticed there with Lou Halamore and hunts there now.It is neat country.Bwana dogo

It's still a fantastic area for buff, and nice and remote as others have noted

I hunted there in 2005. See my hunt report on it. It was great and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Thanks everyone - appreciate the insight and info. From what I can tell it's so large and remote there should be good opp. for buffalo. Hoping to book a last minute cancellation (with Buzz) for this summer so if I make it in and out in one piece I'll definitely post a hunt report.
Thanks again for everyone's help.
