I hunted in Chirisa, that's next to the old research area, if that is what you are looking at. Hunted in 09 for tuskless and buf. Had a great hunt, saw 100 eles before I shot mine and saw lots of buf also. Saw some plains game too but was not looking for them. Chirisa propably has as good habitat as any place but poaching can be a problem. Phillip Smythe runs a camp there and has a good tuskless buf hunt. The lookout and the dam are my favorite places. You can see a great deal of wildlife from camp.
I hunted Chirisa in 2009 for buffalo. It was a good hunt but there didn't seem to be an overabundance of buff around at that time. I did see a couple elephant and some very fresh lion spoor. It was a fun hunt but I don't know as though i'd call the place overrun with game. But, that's just from my experience.

Hunted Chirisa with Phillip 10 months ago. My tuskless was the 69th elephant that we stalked up to during the first 5 days of my hunt. I also saw LOTS of buffalo and was able to take a nice bull. Also observed several great eland, as well as a variety of plains game. I think you will be pleased. Also saw several lions in the riverbed below camp.
