Just noticed a recent post on the Hunting Report Bargain Board that might be of interest. Two Black Rhinos in SA one is down to $165k (20 inch horn) and one down to $190k (24 inch horn). Please remain orderly in your haste to book.....

I knew I shouldn't have spent $195K when they "discounted" it the first time. Oh well, live and learn.

I have two daughters. Absent some type of scholorships (for which they aspire), I'll have to come off bucks like that for private universities. I wonder what has more worth. A Black Rhino on the wall or a degree from Duke? JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

Hmmm, a black rhino you tell everyone about or a degree that no one will ever hear about. Success is all about desire and determination; with that, it doesn't where one obtains the degree (unless it is a very specialized field). Without desire or determination, the school of choice will barely get you the job interview. My stepdaughter starts community college in about one week; she missed the bigger school by about 20 points on the SAT. Then, if she hasn't decided on a course of action (major) within 2 years, she can start paying for it herself. I made it through a Bachelor's and Master's program in the best Forestry College in the South (Axe 'Em Jacks) and paid for dang near all of it myself (no loans) and my wife just made it through 4 years of the best Veterinary College in the country (Whoop!) mostly through loans she will be paying on the next 10 years or so. She has more determination than anyone I know. Finally, a bone to naw, most women rarely stay in the profession they choose in college more than 10 years. For female Veterinarians, the average length of practice is 8 years - yes that is correct - 8 years. I told my wife that I would bury her somewhere in the swamp if she can't make 20 years - given that we spent 4 years apart for her to follow her dream. So, I'd rather have rhino on the wall than a daughter that has a high dollar degree on her wall - while she has decided to be a stay-at-home mom for a son-in-law that I may or may not barely tolerate. That said, I personally will never be able to afford any sort of rhino hunt. All this is JMHO. Don't even ask my thoughts on the average cost of a wedding these days - $27K. If you are going to carry a big stick, you've got to whack someone with it at least every once in while.
