Just got back from 6 weeks in RSA.

We shot 44 animals, about half with the new Barnes TSX in the 140 gr 270 Win and 225 gr 338 Mag.

To say the least, they are impressive.

Almost got hit by a car in Cape Town that ran a red light, got tick fever for a few days, had a PH send his dogs in after a wounded baboon too. That cost him 6000 Rands to stitch them up. And so the trip went.

I'll have a detailed story written up in a few days, so if you want one, just write me at tblauwkamp@superior-sales.com and I'll send it back.

I will also do a animal by animal and bullet by bullet report too.

Terry-

44 animals? What kinds? And how many hunters sharing in that bounty?

Sounds like a fun, and eventful, trip!

Well it isn't a good idea to mess with a wounded baboon...pity to hurt the dogs for a varmint.
Sounds like one hell of a hunt! I am certain that with the Barnes X bullets, any plains game in RSA is in serious danger!

Terry, may be you are already fully treated. But even if feeling perfectly alright now I would recommend a full treatment for tick fever now.
that means something like 2 weeks Vibramycin the least.Else it will come back and cause possible complications

Terry,
Six weeks in the RSA! You're killing us working stiffs that can only get away for a ten day hunt without upsetting the apple cart. Welcome back and it sounds like quite an adventure. Please send details and pics when you get a chance!

Terry, welcome back, and it sounds like you had a great trip. I'm headed to RSA myself this season for fifteen hunting days. Maybe I'll get my dream nyala this time!

What are you doing with all of your animals these days? Are you bringing any of them home, or are you leaving them in the "custody" of the outfits you're hunting with?

I work, just not year around. Employment agreement to work June 1 to Dec 31, then I go to SCI, SHOT, DSC, etc and to Africa, and then back to work.

The key is never to be the boss. Work for someone else, and let them run the place while you are gone. PLUS, have a wife that goes along, and enjoys it as much as you do.
