I received my copy of JudgeG's video of his Safari with his daughter. What a fantastic trip they had. I'm glad to see that Little Earnest could make it as well! Judge, you are a very lucky man to have such a daughter to share this experience with. Thank you for letting us share in your trip. The visit to Victoria Falls looked like fun, and your daughter's buff and your tuskless were fantastic. Thanks again.

Now, since the Judge was kind enough to let me share this video, let's pay it forward. If somebody else who wanted to see this but got their name in the hat too late will PM me with your name and address, I'll send you the disc and you too can share in this special hunt. Let's keep it moving until everybody gets to see it. The first message I receive gets it.

Thanks again, Judge!

I've had a response to my offer, so the JudgeG father / daughter safari DVD is off to another for his enjoyment. Let's spread the fun!!

As I posted in another thread (before I saw this one), if were on the original list and received one that was inoperative, it's because the label is too thick. Just peel it off (carefully!) and it'll work.

And thanks for the kind complements above.

And, btw, when you see the video, you will see lots and lots of buffalo! It was the best of my 20 odd safaris, by far!... and thank goodness that my shooting at guineas wasn't recorded. (The operative word being "at".) I certainly wasn't 2 for 2 like Emmy.

Great video. I was surprised to see even cow buffalo horns hook back & up. Good shot by the young lady too!

I just got my copy today and I must say I was really impressed. What a fantastic hunt. Judge ,you must be a happy man with your daughter. I can't imagine how you felt sharing a trip like that with her. It must have truly been outstanding in every way. Congrats on a fine hunt and raising a good gal right.
Thanks again for the copy. I plan on passing it on to a few of the people I know here to share with them.

Thanks, Judge. Think this is no. 2 on the current 10 disk list.

Just got home Monday from DSC. Judge told me at the dinner to peel off the label and that might fix the skipping/hesitation that would happen every so often.

So I finally just got that done this evening and indeed that fixed the problem. The label didn't exactly come off clean but like I said it works with no issue now.

Therefore whoever sends me a PM first with an address gets my copy.

Video was very well made! I enjoyed it. Thanks to the member who passed it on to me. If anyone wants to view it, PM me and I can pass mine on.

JudgeG, quick question. For your narration parts, did they record you speaking into the camera at some point on the trip? Or did you record it after the trip?

thanks again for sharing

Bobby7321:

Interesting enough, the "narration" and the video were two separate things. Before I even saw the video (raw footage or the finished product) I, for my own memories, just recorded my thoughts on the trip. I certainly wasn't thinking about the video or how it would be edited.

Later, since my daughter wasn't particularly loquacious during filming (that's an understatement, for sure Big Grin ), I was asked if I could record some comments about the trip. I sent what I had already created... so, the film was edited around my "story" of the hunt, instead of the normal opposite way. I had no idea of what was on the tape, for instance, the scenes where Emmy and I don't talk to each other over the radio, baiting for leopards, the elephant charges, the video of where we ate lunch in the field (with the roan and zebra), etc.

I was amazed with the product. Just good luck and good editing, I guess.

JudgeG - thanks for sending me the video. Unfortunately the only thing holding the DVD together was the "label". A nice big crack 3/4 way across the disk and it was seperating into individual platters. Even the case was cracked. Post Office sure was hard on that one. I appreciate the thought though.

I have the DVD scojac sent and am ready to send it on to the next person.

Judge, this was a great video and I showed it to my 6-year old; she loved it. I showed her a Tracks Across Africa episode a long time ago and when she sees a dead animal now she runs around saying "Kabubi kabubi, kabubi kabubi!" She did the same on this one...

Anyone who wants is next just say "I'll take it" here so others know it's gone and PM me your address.

Oh, I had to remove the inner part of the paper label as it got stuck in my Mac... It took an act of congress to get it out but once I removed the inner part of the label which was off-centered and causing drag on the spindle as it was trying to release, I was good to go.

Cheers
