JarrodMasailand
What makes Masailand so expensive compared to some other areas?

McKayHuge Buff. The supply can and does demand the price. Also there are some unique species of plainsgame avalable up there as well. Well worth the price though.

JarrodDoes it cost more to operate there or is it just because of where it is and what's there?

McKay has provided the best answer and the unique species native only to the area is one of the main attractions; combine a hunt to include the Selous and you will have a bag that nowhere else in the world is available on a single hunting trip.

L. David KeithBig trophies and limited license for some of the more special species such as Fringe eared Oryx, Gerenuk etc. When an outfitter/PH only has a very limited number of license for said animals, he can get a premium for those license. Also, supplying a quality staff, camp, amenities and supplies doesn't come cheap in remote areas. Look at what African's pay for fuel, ammo, vehicles/parts etc. Unfortunately, it's expensive to hunt there but for most a lifetime experience.
Cheers,
David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
