Lewiston to SEA to CDG (Paris) to Douala to Camp. I hope my wife enjoys it as much as I hope to. I am glad I am going and not waiting for more $$$ or more time or whatever. Grab life now. It will be over, way too damn soon. I know what I am talking about. I am looking over at my Polar bear mount as I type this.

SG I assume bongo is your target. I'm envious as it is one of two major animals left I would like to hunt. Best of luck. You are in for an adventure. Look forward to your report. When changing planes at CDG, and you are going through security again (if you have to), DO NOT STAND in the far left or far right lines for security screening! Coming back from Romania, we landed in CDG, took the bus to another terminal, got off, and headed to the gates. We were confronted with another set of security screening devices. The French folks would escort LARGE groups of people up along the walls to by-pass everyone standing in those lines. I almost missed my flight back home. So move to the center security lines if possible. 577NitroExpress Double Rifle Shooters Society Francotte .470 Nitro Express If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming...

SQ - How exciting! I hope you have a tremendous adventure and I look forward to your report and pictures upon return. 577 - Funny you should mention that, that was the longest I ever stood in a security line. I had somebody direct me, and I figured they were looking at the departure time and if you are a bit out you get sent to line that wrapped around forever. All the French seemed to take it in stride. The staff was good about coming around asking if anybody was getting close and needed to move up.

Sounds like a super adventure... bongo in the rainforest. Someday, maybe! On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. Enjoy your upcoming time in Africa. I know that your wife will, as Africa has also become an obsession with my wife, for sure.

Thanks, I hope to try to post pictures if my gear survives the humidity. We will be spending 2 nights in Paris on the way to adjust our clocks and bum around. I would like to see Napoleon's tomb this time. They locked the door in my face on my last trip to see it.

Made it back!!! Working on photos, If I can I will post some. I kept a journal so once the paper dries out from the humidity I will write up something and post it in the trip report area. A short summary. Trip went great. Got my Bongo and a bay and blue duiker. I didn't find a good male buffalo but I had a great time chasing them and being chased by them. Saw the standard package of monkeys gorillas and chimps. Poaching is unbelievable. We recovered a lot of meat and gear. My bongo had 3 snare marks, one on each front foot and one on the right rear foot. My wife loved it and mentioned going back for buffalo/elephant already. I told her I would put it right at the top of my "honey do" list. France was great. Walked out with my guns from CDG no hassles no problems. Got to see Napoleons tomb this time. Someone broke into my locked ammo case to inspect it so I will need to get another before the next adventure.
