people ,
i have just tried some 511 tactical flashlights - let me say they are tough and bright !

the headlamps have a pretty beefy battery pack that caused me a pause at first but as soon as i saw how bright they were i could see why..

their handheld line is very bright too ...i have a couple of them , a pencil model thats great for just having in my backpack and also a beefier one that takes a couple of the CR123 cells that you could quite literally follow a leopard with !

i have been using 511 shirts for the last five or so years and knowing what a great product that was i thought i would try their lights - always looking for a better light !

anyway , just thought i would share

ps.NO they didnt pay me to post this Wink

Some of these new LED's are amazing. A unit holding 3 AAA's or a few CR 123's are 5X as bright as old 3-4 D cell mag lights and last 4 times as long.
This is one area that has thoroughly eclipsed technology just a few years old.
You can buy a bullet proof super bright, light weight light for under $60.00. that is about indestructible.
Now, what am I going to do with all those old Mag Lights?
These new units make great gifts as well.

Check out Fenix. Some of their stuff is simply amazing. What will it be like in a few years?
I bought a Surefire Maximus. A bit spendy, but a 500 lumen rechargeable headlamp that is totally self-contained, no separate battery pack. Wow.

I just bought a "Mr. Light" a german made LED flashlight with 3000 Lumens. It's own rechargable batteries included. Amazing, clear white light as compared to a more yellow light with my surefire.
They have 3 models and I bought the midsize unit.

I'll be using the FENIX RC40 @ 3500 lumen with
rechargeable batteries this deer season. I used the TK75 @ 2900 lumen last season and it was off the charts bright. I'm passing the TK75 to my daughter.

Lots of decent light manufacturers in the market today. My money is spent with FENIX.

Buy LED drop-in's and give the flashlights to your kids to play with? Or, better yet, give them out as gifts on your next safari?

Thanks for sharing Ivan, I love the 511 clothing products and wear them daily. I will have to check out their flashlights.

I have always enjoyed my Princeton Tec Apex Pro headlamp. It is really light weight with the Lithium CR123 batteries and provides excellent brightness options through the 4 perimeter LEDs and center Maxbright LED. You should check it out sometime as well if you get the opportunity to compare them.
