I think all of us feel the same way.....there's just no suitable words here. Even the most eloquent are useless. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I personally hold the outfitter 100% responsible. It's his job to ensure that everyone hired knows the ropes on gun safty. Tragic for sure for all concerned. but there's no way that hunter should be in front of a the guide, especially one expected to shoot. If the DG gets you that's one thing but to be shot by your guide is never acceptable. My condolences to the grieving family.

It is a sad news indeed. While we don't know exactly what happened out there, from the report it seems like the assistant guide was not very experienced with guns. I would never shoot a rifle standing while someone is sitting in front of the muzzle at barely few feet away. No matter how hot the situation is, you can always take a few steps to the side to shoot, or get next to the front guy so you don't have to face a situation like this. It also looks bad for the guide service that doesn't have a plan on where to place the back up shooters in case the bear flees after the shot. The price of knowledge is great but the price of ignorance is even greater.
