I'm about to sign up for a buff hunt in the Selous. Anybody been there lately and what does it look like for buffalo and a good warthog?

Kevin,
Dunno if you have seen this hunt report...

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

What block?

The Selous is 50,000 sq km, and some areas are obviously better than others.

I have hunted many of the Selous blocks.

They all have good buffalo population and good warthogs.

The secret is getting the one you want.

I hunted MHJ3 with Adam Clements this past season. I took three mature bulls - photos posted in my hutn report that bwanamrm refers to above. I did not measure any of them, but they were mature old hard bossed bulls.

My hunting companion also took a fine old bull (he only wanted one).

Friends of mine hunted the same block in July last year - each took one buffalo, which is all they wanted.

In the MHJ3 this past season I would describe the buffalo population as being "fairly abundant." We didn't see them every day, but probably every other day. We weren't hunting them every day either. The trophy quality I saw I would describe as "good." My understanding is that if you're looking for a monster you go to Masailand.
