Except that the ele was about 30-40 years old and died off accute brass poisoning...I think the client who shot it posts here occasionally and hopefully will have some other pictures of events... A usualy BS story to try getting a knee jerk reaction.- Yes the vilagers are malnourished in Binga district. They are not starving to death though. Yes, many more children die of diseases that they shouldn't die off owing to the malnutrition, but thank bob for that situation! Rather the journalist should highlight a nice American who chucked US$12000 into the community coffers, gave the povo free meat, helped provide employment for nearly 40 people and helped pay one of my mates kids school fees. However, to expect some pinko-commie-fag-subversive-bleeding-hearted- liberal-wally -wanker journalist to tell the truth would be more foolhardy than expecting bob to alow free elections.

I wish everyone the world over had the dominating spirit that motivates Texans.– Billy Clayton, Speaker of the Texas House No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. It's probably a lot safer than trying to carve a steak off of one while it's still alive and capable of stomping your little selfie into what greatly resembles a pile of hairy Tollhouse Cookie mix! Rich

A work mate of mine will be in Zim this July for elephant. Seems as if Uncle Bob held up the permits until the prices went significantly higher.

What a joke! Look at the picture of the elephant being skinned. It was pretty thoughtful of the hundred or so "starving villagers" to wait on the hill while the dozen or so other "starving villagers" skinned the elephant. Notice they even skinned the feet as though they were going to send them to the taxidermist? It almost looks like there might have been a PH in charge(but out of camera range) that was directing the recovery. Quite a job of "reporting" done by the Online Mail.... Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

While some journos do a good job of African and conservation reporting the vast majority lack the sophistication, knowledge and most importantly, the willingness, to present clear information. They simply plug most information into a standard set of frameworks or templates that never change. The I find it really irksome

The best evidence as to whether these people are starving is to look at their dogs. When food is scarce the dogs are the first to go hungry. The dogs in the picture look in pretty good shape to me compared to some years that I have seen. 465H&H
