From Hunt Report..... Still in Botswana, there is still more bad news to pass along this morning. Seems the country has experienced a new outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease. That has caused authorities to suspend temporarily all exports of cloven-hoof species such as buffalo, kudu, impala, springbok and gemsbok. I have that from Debbie Peake of Mochaba Developments. The only good news here is, she says Veterinary Authorities has approved the shipment of elephant, lion and leopard trophies. "If your shipment contains only an elephant or lion or leopard trophy, we will be able to ship your consignment as per normal procedures," Peake writes in a press release dated today. "If your shipment contains any ungulates, we will not be permitted to ship your consignment until we get clearance from the Botswana Veterinary Authority." Reached by phone, Peake did not want to speculate when the shipping ban would be lifted. You can reach her by e-mail at: Debbie@mochaba.net. - Don Causey, Editor/Publisher.
