I need to book the last leg of my trip for my upcoming safari. I am considering South African Airways for this leg. (Delta - my first leg does not fly there)
Is this airline "firearm" friendly?
Has anyone had any problems with this carrier. If you would not suggest this carrier please suggest another.
Thanks for your input,
Matt

SAA does allow firearms friendly will be the person you work with when handling in your rifle.

As for your flight it is only a 3 1/2 hours drive from OR tambo Intl to Nelspruit. You will spend almost the same time flying, getting to the plane early because of your rifle. Sitting and waiting for take off then getting your rifle again at Nelspruit airport.

Just an idea.

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

THREE AND A HALF HOURS!!!!???? Eeker Eeker

I could drive there faster in a Landy. Big Grin

One hour MAX. In fact the flight schedule shows 55 min flight time.

Yes SAA is gun friendly. You will fly on a SAA turbo prop to Nelspruit. I have flown to Kimberley, Richards Bay and to Phalaborwa on the SAA domestic flights and they are just fine. The flights are not very long. Certainly not 3 1/2 hours.

Thanks for the information everyone - I will book with SAA. (I don't want to bother with renting a vehicle to drive there, but thanks for the idea)

While you're in the area you might like to visit Lifeform Taxidermy which is only about a 20 minute drive from Nelspruit airport and if you have time give me a call on 0832777114 and we'll maybe try to get together for a beer or three..... beer

Steve:
I have already contacted Sharon at Lifeform - I will have them do the dip and pack. She was pretty quick responding to all my questions. It is great hearing positive feedback about their operation. I already have a taxidermist lined up in the states to do the mounts.
I will be Hunting with Steyn Safaris from May 23 to June 2nd. 5-days hunting 2-days in Kruger & 2 day shopping, etc. Will be going with my father.
I have copied your contact information in my safari book.
Thanks,
Matt

I might be in Tanzania by then - but give me a call anyway....... The end deate might be good for me as I think I go to TZ in early may to build camp and then come home for a leopard hunt in Botswana beginning (I think) 3 or 4 June, so I might be here for a night or two around the 2nd June.
