ozhunterSafaris on U TUBE.
What are your thoughts on hunts being shown on the very public U tube?
IMO With all the greenies on U/TUBE, its a DISASTER for us.

06 August 2007, 15:11
WinkI fear that if it is the most sensationalist videos that get posted and viewed, most of what purports to be "hunting" will be just the opposite. Videos of dead animals being manipulated for photographs, or videos of unethical hunting practices, or accidents, etc. will hardly help the hunting community to bring awareness of what the experience means to dedicated, ethical hunters.

WillSome guy just patched together stuff already on the internet and public TV, and some pilfered copyrighted videos. Big deal.
If the greenies don't like tell 'em to go screw themselves, which, of course, they probably have no problem with!
When anyone complains about my hunting I tell them to "Grow up." It usually shuts them up.
And who is it that complains about hunting? College kids that are more like sheep than sheep, frustrated old hags that haven't got any in a very long time, if ever, and limp-wristed little liberals that insist on everyone conform to their communal lifestyle, and hide behind legislation passed by other old hags and men scared of their own shadows.

ozhunterI fear that those sheep like, urban green type collage kids will have a say in future and going from MANY of the U-tube replies they don't hold back.

L. David Keithquote:
I agree. But, I also don't think we should hide in the closet with shame.
My thoughts exactly! When Uncle Ted (Nugent) first came on the public scene, I thought "Oh my God, this man is going to bring the rath of Hell down on us!" But I was wrong to even think that. Ted doesn't back down, and neither should we. Are you ashamed of hunting? Do you feel quilty when an animal dies from your actions? I don't! And what blows the pin head's brain is when I tell them I love animals. I spend a lot of money EVERY year, not only in support of my own hunting, but membership in a number of gun owning, sport hunting organizations. License fees, travel costs, food, gas, hunting gear (taxes), trophy fees etc. Hell, I just spent more money on shipping than it cost for a pair of dress shoes for one of my Trackers in RSA. I'm not rich by any means, but I am always one of the ones that bids often at any of our local banquets and serve as a committee member as often as I can. As long as we stick our heads in the sand and think "someone else" will carry the load, the anti's will continue to win ground. If every single hunter in the US of A would donate $1.00 each year to the NRA, we wouldn't be in the shape we're in over gun ownership. But Hell no! Too many want to take and not give back. I won't get on my soapbox but don't anyone tell me they can't afford an hour of their time or a dollar of their money. UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL! Good hunting, and I hope each of you KILL a nice one this year, no matter what your game. LDK

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Cazador humildeI've looked at the YouTube stuff a little, mainly 'cause I heard my mostly-grown kids talking about it. And I've seen some of the hunting videos; everything ranging from outfitters promoting themselves to the poor, pathetic woman holed up in some Brooklyn apartment that probably hasn't been out of the burough in 15 years with her 5 cats type that wants to stop the pretty zebras from being shot. I don't think the medium has really come into its own yet - its still just mainly kids playing around and other kids, or freaks that don't have a life, commenting on it. You can watch a video on how to build a workbench or the lifespan of a fruit fly and the comments will be "Impeach Bush!", "Impeach Cheney!". That crap just depresses the hell out of me, IF that's a slice of the American public, Lord help us.

David HulmeVery interesting point and fair comment from all of the above. I must say, I liked Will's post the most!
I am with you 100% Oz, you have raised a most relevant topic. How much difference does it make, however, with all the unethical hunting DVD's/ Videos floating about? Although there are many ethical DVD's etc out there, portraying true hunting experiences, how many people actually watch these? I fear that most people who watch any hunting footage end up watching sensationalist 'Death and Destruction in the Jungle' crap, which certainly doesn't represent what we do. With film such as this so widely available anyway, does the U-Tube deal impact us so significantly?
I reckon what we should do is bombard U-Tube with comments, in force...

Bill CUTube, Facebook, texting, iEverythings, gaming…this is what the "kids" are into and if hunting and appreciation of the outdoors is going to continue, it needs to be a part of the culture.
It is encouraging to me that of the ~hundred or so friends of my kids that of that have come into my house, not one has said anything negative in regards to the trophies. Nor their parents. Especially when they learn is is not just about killing, but the adventure, excitement, travel, physical effort, etc. While they may not totally "get it", they think it is cool, and wish they had such a childhood (as I do!!!). I grew up in a non-hunting household any my Mum was against hunting but loved nature, and my Dad shot rifles…so eventually the two came together. There is hope!

TheBigGuyI don't care much for the ignorant responses some folks make on hunting videos there either.
There are plug-ins available for forums that allow users to embed their videos in threads. This is a more useful function for the service IMHO.

Africa Wild MediaEven though I only film Safari hunts I get loads of stick about how cruel hunting is especially here in the UK.
I asked a friend here to review a short 7 min educational video I did for Matabeleland Taxidermist based in Bulawayo.
He said he could not watch it, it was to much death and dead animals for him, it only showed the processes envolved in getting tropies ready for Dip and Pack, mounting, skinning, tanning and no hunting or shooting at all.
My wife now tells her friends that I film nature and dare not mention hunting at all....

This same friend would most likely go "OOH! AAH" ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS" if you take him to the meat rack at the super market.
