Just got a call from one of my PH's (Brian van Blerk) who is in our Lobo area in Masialand building our new camp there. He told me that a big male lion showed up at one of the Masai Bomas yesterday. The lion approached the Boma and one of the Masai Morani tried to scare the lion away by running towards it and threw his spear at the lion. The spear apparently hit the lion on the side of the back leg, according to them, but who knows, which then pissed the lion off, and it attacked the Masai Morani. Apparently, from what Brian told me the Masai Morani was very badly mauled and appears that his whole back side was taken off and one of his legs was almost bit in half before others scared the lion off. They do not know if the guy will servive or not, but was taken to hospital. Brian and Paul do not think that the spear did too much damage on the lion as there was no blood trail. They did hear a male lion roaring this morning from camp and they think it is the same male, which means he is still strong, but who knows if it is the same lion. Brian and Paul said they would try and follow it up more tomorrow to make sure. That will be one really pissed off lion though come July for the first hunter! They also told me that there are a lot of lions in the area right now as well.

Adam, Sounds exciting! Tell Brian not to spend himself fighting off lions before my visit in August! See you soon! Hugh

That's what happens when all you have is a single shot! Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;
