I just received this from the company, Mochaba in Maun, that does the packing and shipping for Johann Calitz Safaris in Botswana regarding my husband's elephant and zebra. Any one know anthing more????: "I trust you are well I am pleased to inform you that your trophies are packed and ready for dispatch. We have a suspected outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease. The Veterinary Department is doing a surveillance and we are still waiting for feedback. At the moment the shipments are on hold until further notice. I will keep you updated, please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further queries. Looking forward in hearing from you. That's been the situation for some considerable time. - It's not that unusual for BW to have a F&M outbreak or scare and they slap a transport ban on fairly quickly because they have suce a lucrative beef industry. I believe this one was first discovered in the Tuli and then moved on. - The bad news is that the shipping company you mention are the only company licenced to ship hunting trophies overseas and they always take a loooooooooooooooooooooooong Christmas break. (Which always drives me cucking frazy)So don't expect anything to leave there in a hurry. Welcome to Africa! | |||
