I realize this is more appropriate for the "Gunsmithing" forum but since there are most likely more CZ owners here I decided to give it a try. I have a CZ 550 Safari Magnum in 375 H&H. I would like to put a fiber optic front sight in it. The CZ has the removable/interchangable front sights. NECG offers one that appears that it will fit. Do any of you know if the NECG sight will work? If not who amkes one that will? Thanks

NECG makes a dovetail cutter so that your smith can install the NECG fiberoptic sight in your front base. If the CZ dovetail is larger than the NECG one, your smith can put a block of steel in the CZ base and then mill in the new dovetail. It takes longer to read this than it does to do the job. You could also upgrade your gun for about $100.00 by pitching the CZ front sight and replacing it with an NECG unit. The dovetail cutter is a GOLmatic 5,21 x 75 degrees, HSS 30. JCN

I have the cutter and have modified and installed a NECG fiber optic sight on my CZ. The NECG sight bottom also has to be modified. A lot of different set ups on the barrel and then the sight. The cutter just barely cuts when machining the CZ dovetail out to NECG profile. There is enough metal to do a clean job if you are very careful. Plenty of opportunity for disaster too.

Thanks Cat, I will attempt the surgery on my CZ, fuck it up, and then put on a new NECG sight base! JCN
