I have been covered by Medjet Assist and have been recommending them since 1996. I have been fortunate enough to never have had myself or a client need to use their services.

I have seen several references on these forums to Global Rescue being "better" than Medjet.
Can some of you that have (unfortunately) had to use these services, share your positive and or negative experiences regarding Medjet or Global Rescue.

I like being loyal to businesses I have used for long periods of time but I am seeing enough discussion on this topic that I feel compelled to investigate the subject.

I have had both and use only GR now. I made the change primarily because GR will get you where you are at. That is a huge difference.

I changed a few years back. My sons and I went to Argentina on our annual duck/dove hunt shortly thereafter. My sons proceeded to become extremely ill. I had taken them to a local doctor with no results. I was becoming extremely concerned. I decided to call GR.

I told the GR people what was going on. Within 2 minutes , they had me on the phone with a paramedic. Within a half of an hour they had me on the phone with a specialist from Johns-Hopkins . They were real serious. They gave me great advice. They told me which hospital to go to and the exact tests to have done. While all of this is going on, they were arranging the hospital plane to bring us back. Fortunately they stabilized and the plane was not necessary. It didn't end there . When I got back they called several times to check on my kids.

Was I impressed? Hell yes!

I have also bought the emergency evacuation service where they will come get you in the event of political unrest. I spoke with GR before one trip as I thought there was some risk. They took down a lot of info. They gave me some information about local conditions. They even gave me advice on what to do if I had to leave in a hurry.

I am sticking with GR.

They have a minimal fee that allows evac in case of political upheaval and did haul some people out of Egypt. Try that with Med jet...

John Abraham used them when he was hit by a leopard this past season. He couldn't say enough good things about them.

How does MJA or GR compare with Medical Air Rescue Service Ins. (MARS) which is offered by a number of safari operators for about $10 a day?
