I'd like to hear about which units folks like and why...I'll be headed over for my 4th trip (RSA this time) but I've never taken a travel CPAP. I'm tired of being tired! Thanks for any & all information.

I take the one I use at home.
It has it's own little travel bag & is allowed as a carryon.
Plus I can always cram a few more items in the bag I may need access to on the flight.

I took a guy turkey hunting in the spring who had a very small machine. Like the size of a cell phone. I am looking in to getting one myself. I will report back.

That is very nice.
Will have to take a serious look at that.

I just got a new travel unit,, it is the Transcend Auto travel Unit with EZEX ,, whatever that is.. It is about the size of a softball without the heated humidifier. You can get a multi night battery for it and a cigarette lighter plug for it as well which can be charged in the rover while you drive if needed. It is quiet and easily carried anywhere. I live in rural Texas and medical equipment supply houses not available so I went online and got mine from the "CPAP Shop" August 15th I will be the guy with the full face mask CPAP unit on Delta /Atlanta to Jobergh.. I may look stupid with it on but I will be better able to hunt when I get there.

joester,

There is no need to get a special travel unit if you can purchase batteries and the appropriate charging equipment for the unit you have. I have two units and take my old Res Med Auto Set II when traveling. The whole kit fits in the soft case that came with the Res Med and allows me to use direct power from a wall plug or charge the batteries from any electrical source plus use a car battery if necessary.

Whatever you do please bring your CPAP with you on safari. You'll enjoy your safari far more.

CPAP?
How about couple of bottles of some good stuff?

I also had a sleep study done earlier this year. Very mild sleep apnea, but major snoring which was why I was there.

CPAP was a cheaper option, but I chose the dental device option as I did not want to deal with the face mask.

I have had the dental device for some months now (basically a two piece mouthguard made for your bite that moves the jaw forward and opens airwaves) and have a happy girlfriend that can sleep through the night as snoring is gone Wink.

I would definitely recommend that as an option.

I agree totally with Mark on this one. I have a Res Med that I use, picked up a battery pack a year or so ago thanks to Mark. It has gone to Moz twice and will go again in August. I leave the humidifier at home, plenty of humidity in Moz, and can actually carry an extra change of clothes and all the VPAP stuff in the original bag. It can go as carry on luggage and doesn't count as an extra. I contacted SAA, told them I needed to bring mine on board. They noted this on my ticketing info, so can now take three items on board.

When you use this therapy on a nightly basis, you for sure DON'T want to not have it on Safari. The smaller ones posted here my be OK, but I do know mine has a lot of individual settings and adjustments made for me by my Doc, so won't consider something else.

I don't use mine on the plane as I sleep very little during the flights.

Many thanks, I'll take my ResMed along & buy a battery pak for it. AR is such a helpful site!
