A fascinating glimpse back in time, when safaris weren't possible for the "everyman" and the veldt and plains still open to the wandering safari. Thanks for sharing!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

A touching tribute to a bygone era. I would like to have experienced that era, just once or twice, and while living then, was too young to be hunting. But having reached the point of being able to enjoy a very few Africa hunts I've no doubt the hunt quality is every bit as good in the present era, at least as far as my own modest ambitions go. Present day hunt quality may be even better when considering all the mod cons available now.
Perhaps East Africa's loss of hunting opportunity was to the gain of those African countries that decided to open hunting or keep hunting open.

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.
