Defining a profession hunter
Some time back, there was a long discussion on what is and is not a professional hunter. Craig Boddington addresses this issue in Peterson's Hunting magazine inthe March 2012 issue starting on page 30.

In summary, he says that he definitely is not a professional hunter - he is a journalist specializing in the out of doors.

He says- "I read it as a person who is not just locally and properly licensed to guide hunters of less experience but, based on apprenticeship, testing, and/or years of experience , genuinely capable of doing so. It implies a person who is legally and morally obligeted to uphold all game laws, willing and able to serve as a de facto game warden as required ... and equally capable of handling any situation that may arise with problem animals, dangerous or otherwise."

Also, "Come to think of it, there is littel correlation between the two-week South African school that yeilds a Professional Hunter's License and the length and difficult pjrocesses in adjoining Namibia as well as Zimbabwe."

That sums things up well. The entire article is good reading for the armchair "professional hunters" in the business.

I started to read it but I concluded it wasn't a subject that keeps me awake at night.
