I recently found some information about a fundraising project put on by the community of Gobabis, Namibia. They are building a gymnasium, so to help raise funds they decided to offer a raffle...

Of a trophy bull elephant hunt!

They bought a hunt from Jamy Traut for this November in Caprivi and sold (supposedly) only 500'tickets at $100'each. Now, this made a lot of sense to me as I once helped organize a similar raffle to raise funds for my son's high school baseball team, only we raffled off a Mercedes Benz.

So, I went ahead and bought 3 tickets. (The guy who won the Mercedes only bought 1). At first, I heard nothing so I figured it might be some scam. Then out of the clear blue yesterday I got an email, with my raffle tickets attached. So, I've got a 3 in 500 chance of going elephant hunting with Jamy Traut in 8 weeks. Of course, I have only a 497 in 500 chance of not winning, so I figure I should get my plane tickets booked, huh?!?! The puzzling thing is, my ticket numbers are 613-615. I wonder what happened to 'only' 500 tickets???!!!

Did anyone else on here buy any tickets?

Good luck, but I wouldn't book nonrefundable just yet.

Perhaps ticket numbers started at #100? Just a thought.

That would still leave #600 as the highest needed, unless they didn't use 8's...

Hopefully you'll win & then you can ask them while you're there.
