2014 SCI Houston Sportsman Against Hunger Raffle
2014 SCI Houston Sportsman Against Hunger Raffle
Some of you may recall that last year SCI Houston did a rifle raffle to support our Sportsmen Against Hunger program. The money we raised was used in part to make a donation to the Star of Hope Mission in Houston, a homeless shelter in our community. We also donated almost 200 pounds of venison to the shelter and helped serve a holiday meal prepared with the venison. Attached is picture of the check presentation.
This year we are doing another raffle. The details are shown below. The tickets are only $20 and there will only be 250 tickets sold. The rifle and scope combination are well matched. The package also includes a zebra skin case to match the rifle. The money is for a good cause and your support would be greatly appreciated.
PM me if you would like to purchase a ticket(s), I have tickets and will mail you the stub(s) for the drawing in August. Thanks.

Thank you Mr. Elliot. You should have my address (on an email), if not let me know. Make the check payable to SCI Houston. Do not get any chile relleno sauce on the check.

Mike
I'm in Hackberry tonight - more likely to get sauce Picante on it! I'll be back next week and send it right out.

K EvansMike: I will be in Dande North with Myles hunting an old buffalo when the drawing takes place, so in the unlikely event I should win (I am the unluckiest person in Texas when it comes to raffles), please auction of the prize and donate the proceeds to your cause...I hope I "win"!
Karl

Will do Karl. I will be seeing Myles in three weeks. I will make sure that we "tune him up" for your hunt. However, I must assure you that if I see a manky old scrum cap I will not be saving him for you.

wsquaredMike: Are ticket sales limited to US residents?
Great question. I am happy to sell anyone a ticket, I think the issue would be if they win how would or could we get the rifle to them. My thought is that we are better off not trying to get into exporting the rifle. I number of folks purchasing tickets have taken Karl's view, i.e., if they win, auction the rifle on the spot and plow those proceeds back into the program. We could obviously do that.
Thank you for the interest.
Mike
Checks received and tickets are on the way to Ernest, Bob and James. Thanks for the support!
Mike
Larry, got your check. Thank you. Ticket stubs are in the mail.

pagosawingnutMike,
How many are left?
I am just one of the board members selling tickets so I cannot tell you exactly how many are left. We are only selling 250 tickets. That said, unless someone is proposing to buy a large block, we still have tickets for sale. Thanks.
Mike
Thank you Jay, Emory and Butch. Your checks were received and your ticket stubs will go out in the morning. Thank you gentlemen for your support of this effort.
Mike

MJinesThe raffle winner last evening was a gentleman by the name of Drew Zizinia. Drew was not at the banquet and I do not know him. Apparently he is from Houston since the phone number he listed was a Houston area code. Congrats to Drew.
Thanks to the members on AR that participated as well as the other raffle ticket purchasers we raised $5000 through the raffle. The lion's share of that money will be donated to the Star of Hope Mission, a homeless shelter in Houston at our dinner at the Star of Hope's Development Center on December 11, 2014.
Thanks again to everyone that purchased a ticket. While I wish that someone from AR had won, everyone can be assured that the money they contributed by purchasing a ticket will go along way in helping to send the message that hunters and sportsmen put their money where their mouth is when it comes to helping others in need.
