After talking about it for some time we were able to make it happen.

Retreever and Mama Chop Chop traveled from central PA, MVR and family came from Maryland. We all met at Dulcineas' house for food, lies and shooting.

The guests of honor with the little MVRs'.

MVR having a go at the elephant gun.

Mrs. Dulcinea in mid blast.

We all know this one!

All of the elephant shooters!

Everyone!!!!

We had a wonderful day with good friends.

That's absolutely cool. Just having kids around and enjoying themselves around guns and such is a good start.

Mike,

It looks like a good time was had by all. I regret I won't be going to Dallas this year so it's good to see some pics of the friends I made there. Keep up the good work!

Looks like real good times especially with the kids. Now, the real question is...what did you eat? popcorn

That's pretty good ivory for Pennsylvania. I didn't realize you grew them that big up there. Most of the ones we shoot in Georgia are considerably smaller than that one. I'll have to plan a trip there to hunt. How much is an out-of-state elephant tag in PA anyway?

I assume you shot him with that Stevens double-barrel shotgun everyone pictured is using to shoot clay targets with. Did you use buck shot or slugs to take the elephant? Twelve or 20 guage?

Don't you just love a smart azz? Wink

Seriously, how did Mrs. D take the recoil of the big gun? What is that, a .470? Looks like her shoulder is only partially dislocated, a piece of cake for the ER physician to pop back in.

Meal was fresh veggies and dip, three whole chickens slow cooked on the grill, homemade potato salad, home grown greenbeans slowcooked with bacon, desert for the kids rice crispie treats with cocoa pebbles mixed in the boys loved them... Homemade apple pie made with 6 different kinds of apples...

I have to say Rena handled the double very well... It is a Champlin Famars in 450#2 N.E.
We dug a big hole in the ground behind the backstop...
I instructed all how to control the recoil and none got beat up by the double... Came away with good experiences...

Keith,

You sure got those pictures up in a hurry. They turned out well. Where are the ones of the boys shooting the Red Ryder in BB Nitro Express?

It's amazing the friendships that have sprung up through AR. Thanks again to AR and Saeed.

Yes, this site is a wonderful institution! Many lives have been improved because of it, mine included.

I got to shoot a double for the fist time due to it, thanks again retreever! I have shot a number of

other D/R's too because of connections made here. Now that I'm an owner of one myself the situation

continues to improve. The event detailed in this thread is one more thumb for this excellent place we call
"AR"! It's great to see the children and ladies integrated into the fun! clap
